Rising Leaders. Restoring Dignity Across Borders.
A youth-led partnership with Girl Scout Cadettes (Troop #6260 ) to deliver hygiene essentials to school girls in rural Liberia.
About the Partnership
This initiative brings together the leadership and service commitment of Girl Scout Cadettes with the global mission of the James B. Lumei Foundation. As part of their Girl Scout Silver Award project, members of Girl Scout Cadette Troop #6260 are leading a hygiene kit drive focused on supporting girls in underserved Liberian schools.
Many students miss school not because they don’t want to learn, but because they lack access to basic hygiene essentials. This partnership addresses a real barrier to education while empowering young leaders to create meaningful, measurable change beyond their own communities.
The Impact
The campaign goal is to deliver 150 girls’ hygiene kits to students in rural Liberia. Each kit helps restore dignity, confidence, and the ability to attend school consistently.
Each completed kit will provide: Toothbrush and toothpaste, Hypoallergenic soap (preferably unscented Dove), Sanitary pads and tampons, Deodorant, Washcloth and comb packaged in a durable mesh hygiene bag.
How the Drive Works
This hygiene drive uses a dual collection model to maximize participation and impact:
Monetary Donations- Optional financial contributions are accepted and will be used to purchase missing items and support international shipping.
In-Kind Donations- Community members donate physical hygiene items using a standardized checklist to ensure consistency and quality. In kind donations will be collected during the scheduled drive dates and times below at the trrop’s sponsoring church and held securely until final assembly.
Location: The People’s Community Baptist Church (TPCBC), 31 Norwood Road, Silver Spring, MD 20905
Collection Dates & Times:
Saturday, April 18, 2026 (10:00AM - 12:00PM)
Saturday, May 2, 2026 (12:00 - 2:00PM)
Why It Matters
Access to hygiene is access to education. Confidence is a prerequisite for learning. Leadership grows when young people are trusted to lead.
This partnership is about more than kits. It’s about dignity, opportunity, and the power of young leaders to make a difference across borders.
Help the Cadettes Reach their Goal
Youth Leadership in Action
As part of their Silver Award requirements, the Girl Scout Cadettes will:
